We are delighted that the recently refurbished play park in Reculver now has free public WiFi. The play park, which is adjacent to both public pay & display car parks, is connected to super-fast broadband. This is thanks to HatHats Coffee Company and Whitstable based telecom provider Amelix Telecom.

We are not sure that there are many other outdoor, free to use, play facilities in East Kent which have full 100mb broadband connectivity.

The connectivity is free for anyone to use. Simply log in to the HatHats Coffee network. You don’t need to purchase anything from the coffee shop or even go into the coffee shop to use it. It’s entirely free to anyone in the area.

Amy Walters from Amelix Telecom said, “the Reculver Park project was a really fun one for us to deliver. Getting a symmetrical leased line to the middle of a cliff presented some unique challenges. But we are really pleased that the many thousands of visitors are able to work, surf, and share during their visit to the playpark.

In the first year of service (August 2017 – August 2018) the usage was impressive. There were 49 days 11 hours and 51 mins of continuous browsing. 51,852 browsing sessions were started and 81 terabytes of data were downloaded. We know the line has been popular as we have had 30,210 unique devices connecting!”

The outdoor wifi is also ideal for those parents who work from home or work from home during school holidays. They can connect and work whilst the kids burn off energy in the playpark.
